SOLIO

Mecca of Rhinos

I arrived at a place where the earth breathes safety.

Through a quiet gate and under a watchful sky, I entered a sanctuary fenced not to keep the wild in—but to protect it. It was my first time seeing so many rhinos together, scattered across the land like great grey boulders, calm as cattle in a field. The air held a hush, fragrant with acacia and something else—something like peace.

The roads were soft with dust, winding through wooded ravines and whispering forests. Rich red soils hugged the valley floor, where a lodge stood cradled in wilderness. Here, forest meets grassland, and the land becomes a tapestry of life.

A river meandered through the heart of the reserve, sometimes swelling into swampy stillness, where birds painted the sky with color and song. And then—there they were. A rhino family, the calves bold and clumsy, running wild along the road, their joy rising in little clouds of dust behind them.

Survivors of 50 million years, rhinos wear time like armor. With their mighty horn and weathered skin, they feel eternal.
