GREVY'S ZEBRA

reFocus Gold Awards Honors at the 2022 One Shot Photo Contest
KENYA, AFRICA | SAMBURU
The Grevy’s Zebra treks the vast and rugged terrain of Samburu National Reserve, with a grace and poise that belies its raw power and beauty. Each stripe on the stunning Grevy’s Zebra coat is a masterpiece of nature, as unique and rare as the creature itself.
Distinguished by their iconic “Mickey Mouse” ears, the Imperial zebra holds the title of the largest and most endangered zebra species. A testament to its regal allure, the Emperor of Abyssinia, in the 19th century, bestowed the gift of a zebra to the President of France, Jules Grévy, inspiring the lineage name ‘Equus Grevyi’ in his honor.
The Grevy population has decimated 54 percent in the last thirty years.
