BORANA
reconnect to the wild

I arrived in a place that felt lifted from a dream—or a scene from The Lion King.
Towering kopje rocks rose from emerald plains, where herds of Grevy’s zebras moved like brushstrokes across a canvas. Hundreds of them, scattered in silence and symmetry. The air was cool, touched with nostalgia, as if time had gently paused.
It was my birthday. We climbed a great hill to reach Pride Rock—the very outcrop Disney scouted for their timeless story. There, with the sun sinking low, we celebrated with the locals, wrapped in golden light and a sense of something eternal.

I watched the sun slip behind the horizon from Pride Rock—the very outcrop that inspired The Lion King—as the landscape unfolded in golden silence.

BORANA LODGE
Where the hills whisper secrets to the sky
THE SAFARI COLLECTION
Perched on a rocky hill with sweeping views across the Laikipia Plateau and Mount Kenya, Borana Lodge offers a soulful escape into Kenya’s untamed wilderness.
Tucked at the edge of the Samangua Valley, it looks out across the Lewa Plains to the emerald canopy of the Ngare Ndare Forest. At the heart of a 35,000-acre private rhino sanctuary and working ranch, Borana is one of Kenya’s original eco-lodges—built with purpose, and rooted in conservation.
Every stay gives back. All profits support the protection of this land and its wild inhabitants. With no fences between Borana and the neighboring Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, the two form one of the largest rhino conservation areas in East Africa.
